In 1978, Grant and Pam Hooker produced the first BeaverTail Pastry for service outside their home at the Killaloe Craft and Community Fair in the Ottawa Valley. In 1980, they built and opened the kiosk you can still see at the corner of William and George Street in the Byward Market.
Eight months later, they served the first BeaverTail to a skater from a very temporary Winterlude facility on Ottawa's Dow's Lake.
Today, Grant's family recipe is served at more than a 100 special events and seasonal locatiosn across Canada... but Grant and Pam Hooker still own and operate the Byward Market and Rideau Canada locations.
